i'm trying to rip and encode Scrubs season 4 for my Creative Zen Vision M and am getting an error "EXCEPTION: Audio and overhead size is more than target video size!". i have the target size set to 125mb, which has worked for various other television seasons that i've rip in the past (Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc).
what am i doing wrong? btw, this is with 2.40...i didn't have this error in 2.37b with the other seasons.
thanks.

Ok,
Your audio size (152.89Mb) is more than your total file (125Mb) so AGK just stop
I also have noted that you have 8 vobs so if they were decrypted with DvdDecrypter your have more than 7 Gb as source, this is usual for a movie but not for 1 episode :(
To be sure give more infos on the decryptinf/ripping part
You may try different things:
1/ Try a manual MP3 audio with 48kbp/s VBR which should give you around 60Mb and 65Mb for video or
2/ Try a 700Mb (or more) size and let everything on auto; you may verify if you have all the episodes in a row...

thanks for the reply...i know what i did wrong...ur "8 vob, 7gb" comment triggered it...it's been a while since i've encoded season episodes and i used the MODE --> FILE option in DVD Decrypter instead of MODE --> IFO...my bad.
thanks for the reply...gonna give it another shot the right way this time :).

ok, even if this thread is an older one... i have exactly the same Problem....
I want to convert 1 Episode from a DVD that contains 7 Episodes.
All Settings are default and i tried two different ways for the input field:
1.: i selected the ifo, i thought it should work cause all the budget tools out there, like clonedvd mobile or nero recode are work with this too....
AutoGK says that Several pgcs where found in that ifo and that i should select one... Sure... thats exactly what i expected.... So i choose the first one and go through the simple steps from autogk
But if i hit start i can read the log: "processing file.. VTS_01_1.VOB, processing file.. VTS_01_2.VOB, processing file.. VTS_01_3.VOB... etc....
So i got the same exeption fault at the end: EXCEPTION: Audio and overhead size is more than target video size!
2.: i choosed the first big vob file cause i thought this could help....
but then exactly the same happened......
I took a look in the temp location wat is created by autogk... and there is a big wav file... if i listen to this i can hear the audio for the HOLE DVD...
So autogk tries to put all the audio from the dvd to the small part for one episode on 200MB. k, this could not work!
But now the Question: is it for real that autogk isnt able to handle this??
Do i really have to use another tool to extract this one episode from the dvd?

Yes.

You didn't say what tool you were using to decrypt the DVD, so I'm not really sure if you have to use a different one or not. Use DVD Decrypter set for IFO Mode. Or, if you already have the whole DVD on the hard drive, you can use DVD Shrink in reauthor mode to extract the single episodes.
And welcome to the forum.

AutoGK alone cannot directly handle an episodic disk even though it will let you select an individual episode for conversion. The resulting file will always be all of the episodes in one file. As manono said, DVD Decrypter in IFO mode will handle 99.9% of episodic disks and can rip each individual episode to your drive before conversion.

thx for the help....
But now i am asking me why the hell, everybody recommends autogk if a tool like clonedvdmobile can handle this without another tool? And clonedvd is pretty faster then autogk too. I cannot see any difference in quality......

Hi,
AutoGK => real shareware product, you use it for free, you donate, your choice
CloneDVD Mobile => completely commercial, seems rental 32 euros/1 year ...
In the end your choice but comparing shareware to commercial products is like comparing apples & oranges...

apples & oranges?
sorry, but thats bullshit!
It maybe a pro for autogk, but you cant talk about apples & oranges if this is the only difference....
Or do u get your apples always for free and have to buy your oranges?:o
If a Programm thats uptodate, and faster, and a real 1click tool (you dont need dvd decrypter or anything) costs 32€ then the 32€ are legitimate.

babedebubi,
Calm down. Either use AutoGK or don't use it. I believe BigDid is trying to point out that shareware is free to use. If it works for you great if not please feel free to use something else since you're not out anything trying a shareware product (Apples).
If that something else is a commercial product then you will have to buy it. If that does not work for you then, oh well (Oranges).
Please read this for an explanation of the idiom "Apples & Oranges" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apples_and_oranges
