How to extract a short clip from a DiVX/Xvid movie?

Hi, I want to incorperate a short clip from a Divx movie into the video I am making for a presentation. What software could I use to extract a small clip from a divx movie? I was thinking of using virtualdub and nandub using the guide listed here for splitting avis but that looks really complicated with all the frames and stuff. Is there an easier way to do it? I want a specific clip within a 700 mb movie. I could just import the entire movie into my video editing software but that kind of defeats the purpose since it take ages to import a 700 mb movie and ages to edit it out. Thanks.

VirtualDubMod is quite easy; the problem you'll run into is that it can only "cut in" on an I-frame, and they are usually about a minute apart. All you do is open the file (Click "No" if prompted about improper VBR headers), drag the slider to your start point (hold Shift for faster updating of the video), use the left and right "key" arrows to get it to the keyframe you need and click the left bracket ( [ ) button. Repeat for the end point and use the right bracket button - you can "cut out" anywhere. The red/green arrow buttons will scan forward and back to scene changes. Click Video > Direct stream processing, then File > Save as... and save with a new, unique filename. If you're lucky with the "cut in" keyframe you're good to go; if not, you've got a much smaller sample to import into your favorite editing program.
