DVD-9 --> 2 DVD-5 problem

Hi, I used the ifo edit tutorial to split a dual layer DVD into 2.

Everything works perfectly excpet that on Disc 2, I cannot use the progress bar. If I click on it (in winDVD or IFOedit DVD player), the program freezes.

Also, the progress shown on the progress bar is not propartional to the lenght of the DVD. If I skip 15 minutes (of 1 hour), the progress cursor goes in the middle of the progress bar.

Welcome to doom9. You need to rebuild the time map in disk 2. Load it into PgcEdit and rebuild all time maps (Menubar: DVD - Rebuild all time maps)

What are time maps?

I know that you can rebuild them with PGC Edit, but when SHOULD you do it?
In other words, what modifications to a DVD trigger the need to rebuild?

PgcEdit will automatically rebuild time maps after you make changes to the PGC - eg adding/removing cells.

They are simply a map of time against sectors within the VTS. At the start, the time unit is defined (eg eg entry is 2 seconds) and it proceeds along, entry by entry, with corresponding sectors. A maximum of 2048 entries per time map can be made. Do a search by mpucoder on time maps for more info.

Without a time map, you cannot seek to a specific time in the title. This means that the "time slider" or "seek bar" of the software players are disabled, as is the "goto time" feature of the standalone players.
Of course, a wrong time map leads you to a wrong position in the title, and can even crash the player.

Only the Titles have time maps. There are no time maps in the menu domains. Also, a not-one_sequential title (ie a title spread over several PGCs or played at random or shuffle mode) is not supposed to have a time map, but since some players can use it anyway, PgcEdit builds a new time map for those titles if you want so.

As far as I know, it is never harmful to build or rebuild a time map, even if it's not needed.

Agree, but it is time consuming in pgcEdit if you have not scanned the titles.. And not needed if you're going to process later with VobBlanker, or to do more editing later.
I'd like to have an option to do not calculate the TMAP automatically when saving the DVD.

This option exists when you add a cell in a title PGC. But I haven't implemented it when cells are remapped or deleted. I don't like that too much, as rebuilding the time maps is normally needed in those circumstances.
But it is true that you don't need it if another program like VB can do it later. I'll see what I can do...
