The PSP profile?
No i believe the psp profile is for the regular mp4 video. PMP is a container that allows full res on the psp 480x272.
I'm just playing around with the settings and cant get it to work so was wondering if anyone had a working profile.

If you can get a hold on some of the settings he uses, then you can create a MeGUI profile your self.
Hold on, I am downloading the guide.
Ok, you could try disabling Adaptive Quantization, Qpel, GMC, and VHQ for b-frames for now, although you can turn it back on later after testing.
I am not sure about the Trellis Quantization, you will have to experiment with that, although it should be okay.
For now just you CBR single pass at 700 kbps for testing, to speed things up and ensure compatibity.
Now, the main issue here will be B-frames. Try running an encode without any, and see if that clears things up. If it works, great! Then try adding 1 b-frame at a time and see what happens.

Jonny posted in the x264/PSP thread and mentions this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=872228#post872228) at one stage if this is of any help.
I'm planning on getting a PSP myself soon so I was looking to this as well. As far as I understand you still need a patched version (http://jonny.leffe.dnsalias.com/pmp_mod_avc/index.htm) of x264 to work with it so if you are using the regular x264 with MeGUI it wont work even if you set compatible settings.
The easiest solution for the time being I've found is XviD4PSP (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=113098) which comes with a more up to date patched x264 & PMP support with the full 480x272 resolution. Anyway if it is possible to drop the patched x264 from XviD4PSP into MeGUI and get a working profile I would be interested to hear if it works out for you dssgorila.

This might not work as posted in a few forums Ive read you have to use a patched/hacked version of x264.

First of I'm no video encoding guru like must of you guys on this site. I'm learning as I go.
I've tried a series of apps, including mediacoder, xvid4psp and megui and the hacked x264 cli. I spent about 2.5 days testing clips to come out with the best result. I have yet to see the quality and sharpness from the trailers Johnny posted on the ps2dev site ie the irobot and madagascar clips. I really like megui thats why I asked if someone had a profile i could use.
I will continue to use the x264 cmd line for now.
