How to use Cyberlink H.264 (ATI) decoder?

Hi guys, I'm new here. I downloaded Cyberlinks H.264 decodr for ATI, but can't get it to work. I can see it in GraphEdit, and it will let me connect its input to the h.264 video file, but GraphEdit doesn't allow its output to connect to any renderers. Any help would be appreciated :) Btw my system is as follows:

you might need a gpu card for getting it to work. make sure any gpu related options in the decoder are disabled

What do you mean? It's supposed to work on all ATI X1000 series Radeon cards, ones that support AVIVO. Mine's a X1950 Pro, which should meet the requirement.

normally the gpu places itself after the decoder. i dont know if its supposed to work with a normal renderer or uses its own one? i remember having read about this connection problem but i am not sure what was the cause or if its fixable

What do you mean by the GPU itself? So far every video file I've opened in GraphEdit ends with the Video Renderer at the end of the video chain. In the picture I posted, where the Cyberlink decoder sits was originally occupied by CoreAVC decoder.

The files do play in PowerDVD 7, except it seems like it's being played about 4 times too slow (both video and audio). I can speed it up 2x, but that's as fast as the player allows, and even then it's not regular speed. If I look at the information page in configuration, it says " Video Accelerator: DirectX VA (not in use)". CPU utilization stays around 35% with occasional spikes to 55%.

EDIT: I tried searching around, but didn't find anything useful :(

Hmm, i have the latest PowerDVD 7.2 Ultra i was buy from Cyberlink store, but you can try use the Hardware Accelerator option, like use DXVA option and show me the results, post for me a image that show this filter options

Inside of PowerDVD? I have "Use Hardware Acceleration (ATI Avivo)" checked. However, when I start a DVD, and go to configuration again, Use Hardware Acce... becomes unchecked and greyed out, and information says DXVA is not in use.

I also tried to play a variety of video files (Dvix, Xvid, WMV), they all play very slowly in PowerDVD.

Are you using the latest ATI Catalyst drivers? Also check your DirectX if have some problems

Yes I have the latest Catalyst drivers, DirectX is 9.0c (per dxdiag).

The h264 decoder is only used for h264 decoding... DVDs have mpeg2 video on them and those other formats are not h264 either.

Second, h264 acceleration in either Avivo or PureVideo is not DXVA based, it's proprietary calls to video driver based. And indeed, you should notice h264 accel kicking in when playing that mp4 file with h264 video inside in PowerDVD.

Finally, upgrade to the latest ATi video drivers (from december 2006). There were issues with the previous versions and powerdvd.

OK KoD all that you sayd it's true but look in graphedit screenshot morfinx mean playing MP4 movies not like you sayd MPEG2 DVDs, look at the graphedit file its really a MP4 movie not DVD but maybe i think he needs to upgrade the PowerDVD to work more correctly like i did yesterday, and in the latest PowerDVD 7.2 Ultra Edition you can play now with DXVA enabled and it works perfect for me :)

I have 7.0, but something doesn't seem right. Hardware acceleration should work with DVD playback at least, if nothing else.

Beaware the Ati only Decoder is a very old version the newest Decoder version is 1.99.0.1127
