Just started burning DivX DVDs for my TV as my newest DVD player is the first one I've had that supports DivX playback. I've got a gripe...
I'm trying to play some interlaced content and I'm having a PAR issue. The player seems to adjust the PAR in playback, so a 720x576@25i (native PAL) plays back tall on the TV. In order to get it to play properly, it would appear that I would need to compress at 768x576@25i to preserve the interlacing (doesn't work... tried it already) or interlace at 720x540... only to have the DVD play with it when it adjusts the height for PAR, which can only lead to problems... no such thing as 'great results in realtime' with interlacing, as fars as I'm concerned...
So my question is... how does one play full-size SD PAL video - 720x576@25i in a DivX player? Surely, it must be possible and if not, Divx should be shot for it... sub-question: would XviD provide an easier solution, as I have gotten XviD working on the player?
