hi everybody .. this is my first post here .. do if i'm writing in the wrong place just tell me ^^
ok .. let's start describing the thing
i used to encode using xvid long time ago using virtual dub but when it's come to the size of an episode with a lot of actions during it i have to make the size about 230 mb to watch a really high-quality epiosode. but, when i look to the english fansubbing group they manage to encode the same episode with about 170 mb and maybe a higher quality. that's why i thought that they are using another thing added to virtual dub. before a while i read a topic in knkf site and they want encoder but they put a notice near it ( hye should be familiar with scripts ) .. so is it avi synth or another one .. and if you can tell me anything about it .. is it really possible to reduce the size with the same quality or any method to do this .. thanks for reading the topic ^^

You could possibly reduce the file size in a number of ways.
- Reduce the video resolution (dimensions)
- Apply filters in virtualdub (or avisynth)
- Adjust settings in XviD
- Use an AVC/H.264 codec, eg x264 (instead of XviD)

How you go about it will very much depend upon your individual sources, your current knowledge, and how much time you want to devote to learning and actually encoding.

Spend some time reading the Guides (http://www.doom9.org/) and then the appropriate forums to get a feel for what you can do.

Also quality is such a subjective thing, so what one person deems high quality is not necessarily so to another.

Edit: Oh, and btw, check out the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) - especially rule 9.

And rule #6 - you're very lightly treading on it.
