no tv out with overlay?

i have an ati 8500 video card with s-video out. the problem is, that playing any video's, i only see a black screen where the video should be playing on the tv, even though its perfectly viewable on my monitor. BUT, if i turn off overlay in the player, then i can see the video. it doesn't play as good without the overlay though. i can't figure out why i can't play videos on tv using overlay. :confused: anyone got any ideas?

Make sure you are NTSC 60hz & PAL 50Hz when viewing on the TV, see if that helps.

the gfx card hardware can only support 1 overlay at a time so maybe you have to make your tv-out as primary display or disable the monitor display completely.
