Im debating on upgrading from a pentium D 950 3.4 ghz to a core2 duo E6600 and Ive been searching for benchmark tests on xvid 2 pass encoding, but not finding any.
Is there really a big difference in encoding speed between the two processors? Mainly with autogk?

Hi,
Here is one (in French) which uses xvid 1.1 (not MT optimized): http://www.matbe.com/articles/lire/306/merom-et-conroe-test-des-core-2-duo/page8.php
Also look for specific threads in the xvid section or the PC hard and software section

I hope this direct link works. If not, just choose the CPU's you want to compare etc.

Yeah ive (looked at) that review, but i dont speak french and wasnt sure if that was a 2-pass xvid 1.2 encode. Also i posted in the autogk section because that is my encoder of choice. But i guess since autogk 2.40 it supports core 2 duo's it should be just as fast as any other encoder out there.
