you could either:

1) burn straight to a DVD-9 (dual layer DVD).

2) reduce the amount of data so it will fit on a DVD-5 (single layer DVD). you could use tools like DVDShrink or DVD-Rebuilder.
it depends on what quality you want (if you see a difference that is) and lots of other factors.

@ mods:
please move this thread to an appropriate forum (newbie forum?).

Or you can burn as data to 2, 4.5 discs.

Hi all, Thanks for you reply.
Of course my intention is to put all this files on a single layer DVD. I see tree different files on the harddisk: *.IFO, *.VOB and *.BUP.
What is the difference? If I want to reduce the amouth of files, where do I have to put attention on?

You can't just leave off files and have a working DVD. Use something like DVD Shrink, which will allow you to uncheck streams you don't need, or learn the reauthor mode. Look in the DVD Authoring sub-forum for more information.

@ yofatim:
you might want to inform yourself beforehand, as your question seems to be very basic.
to read the guides and FAQs you can get your hands on would be a good start.

anyway, for you question above please read this:
http://www.doom9.org/dvd-structure.htm
and maybe this:
http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html

as for your original question:
there are many ways to archive your goal. one of the simplest (and cheapest) for a start is to use DVDShrink (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/). there are other, more sophisticated ways though. it depends on what you need and on your eyes plus equipment.
