View Full Version : Used VideoReDo, now what?

I've spent the last week learning how to use, and fine tuning, VideoReDo. Now that I have my final .vob, I find no information on how to burn this puppy, to confirm the project. I've spent lots of time trying to figure this out, with their Help files, and bupkiss.

I trust I am not the first to encounter this. Would someone be so kind as to give direction to the next step needed to finish?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas,
Racer

Use IfoEdit and choose Create IFOs, then you will be asked to provide the VTS_01_1.VOB(change the name of your VOBs if it is not). After the IFOs are created close IfoEdit and reopen it. Open the VTS_01_0.IFO and select Get VTS sectors and you are done.

According to IFOEdit's site, they don't recommend using it with XP. Apparently it doesn't always work right. Other suggestions?

Thanks,

IfoEdit works under XP. Use it to create the ifos. You should not have any problems.

v0.971 28 Nov 2004
- fixed: In VOB Extras, the 'Remove Angle' option was always greyed out under XP.

Derrow's site is ifoedit.com and it is currently down.

An alternative would be demux the vobs and author with MuxMan.

Thanks guys. I like the simple approach. If the only problem, under XP is the greyed out area, no problem.

I'm working off 60 DVD-RWs, that are 80% edited during recording. Once they are all ready, then it's time to combine, and compress 4 eps, per DVD, and burn. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Many thanks,
Racer

OK. Followed everyones instructions, but............ Seems if I try to open it in Shrink, no go. If I try to burn it with Nero, all kinds of error messages. IFOEdit did everything it was supposed to,. Created a master, and from there, no luck. Should I be trying to burn with a different program?

Try to open the newly created ifos in PGCEdit (http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/). It should give an informative error message if something is wrong with the files.

A good alternative to Nero is ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/).

If it still does not work, you can use DGIndex (http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html) to demux the audio stream and the video stream from the VideoReDo vobs. Then use MuxMan (http://www.mpucoder.com/Muxman/std/index.html) to author the demuxed streams. This will create new ifos and vobs.

Or you can the use the 30 day trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 (http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html). Import the VideoReDo vobs, create chapter list if you want, and then have TMPGEnc author the disc and create the ifo files you need.

While we're on the subject of TMPGenc, I have a question concerning menus.

I'm doing a compilation of 4 episodes to a disc, but the menus don't register on the player. I can access them, but they aren't automatic. Is there a way to correct this, as I would like to be able to individualy access the episodes. As well as anyone who may borrow them.

Thanks,

Sounds like you've set your "Menu display settings" incorrectly regarding "first play action"...

Once again, setarip to the rescue. Hit the problem dead center. I guess it all comes down to RTFM! I hadn't read everything concerning the program, and so I suffered the consequences of my ignorance. As always, my thanks.

Back again!

Can I split a Video into 2 seperate parts with TMPGEnc DVD Author? I have 2 episodes, back to back in each file, and no separation in between. I haven't found anything, so far, that will tell me how to do this.

I also cannot figure out how to turn on the audio, while I am previewing, and editing. One last thing: how to add camera black to the clips?

Simply load the file and use the edit function to delete the second half and save the first half. Then reload the original, delete the first half and save the second half.

It sounds like you could make a better effort to read the builtin "Help" files...

I figured out your advice before you posted it. Thank you. Unless there are help files I couldn't find, I've read the ones with the program three times now. If the answers were there, I wouldn't be asking.

These two programs, together are great. However, I've run into a snag. VideoReDo won't open DVD+RWs. TMPGEnc will. I'm guessing it has to do with the properties of RW file systems. I can't find anything in the help files, but I'll bet someone knows what I have to do to correct it.

Actually, it says "Video Thread: Video dimensions changed", and is listed as a Thumbnail Window Problem.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, so once again I must ask for help.

Just opened a DVD+RW in VideoReDo Plus, nothing went wrong.

I have managed to work around most of the problems, however, I can find no descernable way to turn the audio on, while editing in TMPGEnc. The audio in VideoReDo, was the main reason for using it to edit. Being able to hear the audio aided greatly in the edits. TMPGEnc edits just fine, but the lack of audio creats its own headache. Do I need something additional for program sound?
