I installed Xvid v1.1.2 in my system, but it can't play mpeg2 video with windows media player v11. So I want to know the reason. I don't know if the Xvid v1.1.2 resulted this condition. Please give me an answer. Thank you.

Xvid is a mpeg4 decoder/encoder.
Try ffdshow.

You must have a software DVD player (such as WinDVD or PowerDVD) installed in order to play MPEG-2 video.

No, all you need is an MPEG2 decoder.

ffdshow includes an MPEG2 decoder, but it is not yet 100% stable with DVD video, try gabest's MPV decoder for a free decoder.

ffdshow doesn't do CSS, otherwise it plays every DVD I've tried with it the last six months or so. Have you experienced crashes or instabilities recently? Or just going off the tag (that no one wants to take off because we aren't sure what used to be unstable about it :p)?
