An Avisynth Script repository on the forum?

What do you guys think? I am willing to create a thread in which we keep a working, up to date database of Avisynth scripts accompanied with a small description and usage. The scripts would be divided into several sections.
Probably like:
Deinterlacers
Denoisers
Sharpeners
Miscellaneous
etc.

Do you guys have any thoughts/suggestions?

This could then be made into a sticky on the forum, if the moderators so desired.

Just a thought, especially considering how the Avisynth server is down. Plus, this way newbies have easy access to all the scripts plus a place to ask for help.

Sounds like a great idea - I hadn't been to avisynth.org for a while when I found out it was having trouble. Was there a Wiki? That would be the ideal way to do this, I think...

The data will be recovered before or on coming wednesday, so it should be up again really soon.

Yes, well my thought was to put this up, just in case the Avisynth wiki fell down again, or someone on the forums could just go right to the repository if they needed an up to date script instead of spending hours looking through the forums search results.

But if the wiki has this, I never went there, then there would be no point in putting it on the forums. Let's just wait until the wiki is back up and then make a decision.

As far I can tell, that Wiki scripts collection is never up. Any chance the mods on this board could sticky a 'Scripts Repository' thread??
I'd rather see it here than in a wiki because I'm sure such a thread would immediately spawn much conversation, might as well have have it all at one site.

I understand your argument, as it is a version of mine.

The thing with the wiki thought is that everyone can contribute, not just one person constantly updating the same thread/posts.

But, if the wiki does not get up and running again soon, then maybe we should start the repository.

That wiki ain't coming up anytime soon, it's been down for weeks. I say sticky a 'Scripts Repository' thread, what harm could come of it? ;)

my post was a link to the avisynth webpage status, well, page. They are posting a blog about the current status of getting the website up an running again.

It looks like things are comming along, except for the fact that they are having problems talking to the VP of their site provider.
Most of their data, 75%, has been recovered, it is just taking longer than they expected.

Perhaps we could also have a dedicated sub-forum just for Doom9-maintained threads on plugins?

That is a good idea, except that it won't be quite as easy to access the needed sripts or plugins as to have them all in the same thread, with usage examples and so on.

That's why I meant a sub-forum; a dedicated forum just for avisynth plugins, scripts would be something totally different. But I guess this is all too ambitious, but would be nice! I for one would really like at least some form of a filter organization by function, even if it is somewhat limited.

A forum simply isn't built for this, and shoehorning it in won't work. Set up a wiki, or even a website repository like warpenterprises, but a thread or a forum just won't work well for something so ambitious.

Wish I saved the list of filters & scripts by function from the old wiki, even as a single-page reference it'd be useful.

I don't think it's too ambitious, it strikes me as no different than most of the discussions that go on in these threads, except this thread would be a little more concentrated.

That is sort of what I was thinking. In truth, I am waiting upon the Avisynth wiki to come back online so I can see what it looks like, features, etc.
The forum based repository would be nice mainly because the scripts would be one click away, technically.

But, like I said, once the wiki is up, a scripts repository on the forum may not be necessary.
