Hi, I have recently purchased a DVB-T USB Dongle, for watching/capturing Freeview on the computer. I performed a scan and found 47 channels in total, and this was using the small antenna.
The only problem is the software which came with the device, 'BlazeDTV' looks really tacky and I dont like the EPG atall. So I was just wondering if there were any alternatives to this program? Also this program boasts to be able to play HDTV, which would be nice as I have all the setup needed for playing HD.
Thanks

if its got 'BDA' drivers in windows to use it then just do a search on 'DVB-T BDA' for many of the 3rd party apps that can be used, if your looking to use linux then 'DVB linuxTV' is your friend, happy watsits.....

If it's got BDA Drivers, then get Web Scheduler for scheduled recordings. Great program.
For normal tv viewing, I've heard good things about Blaze HDTV, but you're obviously looking for something different.

yes , Web Scheduler is good and i use it myself, i also use Jtvlan to UDP multicast stream that WS backend and vlc over the lan to very good effect.
http://www.jtvlan.org/
http://www.digtv.no-ip.com/webscheduler/
for instance if you stream a channel over udp multicast 224.0.0.1:7777 then you can use any app vlc/mplayer/MPC etc to point to that 224.0.0.1:7777 and display it on many PCs at the same time and all for a single stream so saves bandwidth.
it would be nice if VLC was far better at picking a channel if you opt to stream the full Mux (perhaps 4 or 5 channels in that) or even several of them but at least it works as a proof of concept right now..... try it and see.
OT but related as far as im concerned 8)
all thats needed then/now is a simple single tool that can take the program.ts split it into pipes, re-encode (pal25i/p mpeg2 and AVC)it 3 times once for HD, once for SD and once for PIP(DVB-H).
then re-merge these 3 files back into a standard.ts so we can then use an updated vlc to send/receave (over multicast [wireless] lan ) one to the HDTV, one to the SDTV and one to the PSP or any other device perhaps one of the new DVB-H you got for cristmas.
heres a link to setting up a DVB card if your using linux and its examples are for the UK but you can get the idea non the less.

Ok thanks for the help, also, anyone who uses a DVB-T USB adaptor, any tips for boosting the signal? Using the small antenna which came with the adaptor, I am able to find 47 channels but they skip and jump when trying to watch them. I have freeview downstairs (via a box) and get a great picture.
Any ideas?
Thanks a tonne

Do you not have a proper external antenna? You should hook it up to the same one that your house tele is hooked up to - if you can.
