United DVX 4070 DVD playback problem

My United DVX 4070 has started having problems playing DVDs. It works for some DVDs and for others it doesn't. I hear some weird noises while a DVD is spinning, sometimes it sounds like it's hitting somewhere. Could there be a problem in the drive itself? What should I do to repair it? Thanks for your time.

If your players DVD/CD loader failed, I dare say a replacement loader and subsequent repair bill would cost more than a brand new player!
