OK, I was humming along ripping my DVDs to a media server when I noticed that when I ripped Godfather it compressed the resulting files by 40%. I then checked the settings and it appears it was set to rip to a single sided DVD. Since the Godfather is sunch a long movie, presumably that means since it wouldn't fit on a single dvd that the Shrink program reduced the size?

I"ve gone back and opened all the other movies with Shrink and they all appear to be 100% in size. But how do I know without re-ripping them all?

thanks!

Most movies are on dual layer disks nowdays. If they are all 4.37Gb, I'd say you've shrunk them. You may need to rip them again and not involve DVD Shrink at all (after all, shrinking is what it does).

If you re-open the outputted files made with dvd shrink, it would say 100% as it has already been compressed to fit on a single layer from previously, so nothing else needs to be compressed. As dvd shrink automatically shrinks it to fit on a single layer, i have to agree with blutach and say you have to re-rip them.

Sorry mate.
