A friend of mine e-mailed me a 'DVD rip' of his recent holiday in the Dominican Republic. The file he sent me was an avi file encoded with Xvid and ac3 audio. I converted this file to a KVCD using WinAVI Video converter. The video quality was good but the audio volume was very low. I have succesfully converted other avi files to KVCD with WinAVI Video Converter, and achieved both good video and good audio volume. But these other files had mp3 audio not ac3 audio. Is this 'low volume' a common problem when converting ac3 audio to KVCD compliant audio? If it is, or even if it isn't, could some expert person please tell me how to solve it without causing any 'audio sync' problems?

Thanks everyone,

Dave.

You probably will need to ask in another forum and not on Doom9. To be blunt, nobody here is probably interested in KVCD and thus my post is likely to be the only one you'll get. If you have an audio editor of some kind you might be able to bump up the volume with it.

You should be aware that WinAVI is not well regarded by a lot of people. Your problem might be common to WinAVI but I don't know. Given that I'm the first response in 4 days, consider my advice to look elsewhere. The people at the forums at http://www.dvdrhelp.com have been known from time to time to comment on WinAVI, but almost nobody has anything good to say about it.
