Hi,

Just tried installing AviSynth and I get the following error message. Tried plugging this into google, but no answers. I'm puzzled:-

---------------------------
AviSynth 2.08 Setup
---------------------------
Could not copy avisynth.dll to system directory - Close down all applications that use Avisynth, and sure to have write permission to the system directory, and try again.

Nothings open that's using it as it's not installed. I have write permissions to the system directory... BIZZARRE!

Why not try installing the latest v2.5-branch Avisynth instead..2.08 is really old tech now;)

Already have done. That gives an equally non-sensical error message:-

---------------------------
AviSynth 2.5.6
---------------------------
You need administrator rights to install AviSynth!\r\n\r\n(Could not write to registry)

I am the ruddy administrator! I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 on a duo-core E6600, 3GHz Corsair 667MHz RAM.

Did you try v2.5.7RC1? See the Avisynth development forum. There have been some problems with the installer IIRC, some things have been fixed in that release.

Also turn on view of hidden & system files in explorer, and search the windows folder for avisynth.dll. There's an all-in-one out there called SUPER that trashes avisynth installations by adding a hidden/system/read-only file that the installer can't cope with. I have no idea why it feels the need to be so circumspect about it.
