Hi All,

I have gone through the DVDStyler basic usage guide and read through the manual to no avail.

We made a short 15 minute movie at work for our Xmas party, which we now want to give a copy on DVD to give to each of the cast. I wanted to add a menu at the beginning as there is the movie clip and the out-takes/blooper clip.

I had the clips in AVI (XviD) format and converted both to VOBs using "VSO DivXtoDVD".

This is my first time using DVDStyler, I created a simple single menu with the only 2 options - watch the movie or the bloopers, and after finishing returning to the menu.

Imported the menus and the conversion goes fine, generating the ISO file. I then burn the ISO to a DVD using Nero Express.

The DVD works perfectly in my PC at home and my work PC using software players (PowerDVD and Sonic Player), but in a regular DVD player it just does not work (in my home player, no menu shows. I have to press stop then play and it starts playing the movie. I have to manually go to the 2nd title to play the bloopers. In our work player, it just displays "DISC ERROR").

I am running Windows XP, I am using version 1.5b6 of DVDStyler. I had a feeling maybe there is a problem in one of the IFOs or something that the software players ignore. I can post files if necessary. I don't know much about IFOEdit, but if changes need to be made in these files I am willing to learn.

Here is a list of files on the DVD:
D:\AUDIO_TS is empty

D:\VIDEO_TS contains the following:
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12 KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB 258 KB
VTS_01_0.IFO 26 KB
VTS_01_0.VOB 170 KB
VTS_01_1.VOB 357,328 KB

I have omitted the BUP files as I know they are simply backups.

Any help with this would be much appreciated as I quite like the DVDStyler interface and would love to continue using it rather than have to try different software.

PS - I thought it was strange that both titles were combined after DVDStyler does the authoring, is that normal?

Cheers

If the dvd image plays ok in a software player, it is unlikely to be an authoring issue. The media that you have burnt to - has this been used before? It could be a disc issue. And always burn your iso image with imgburn, don't use nero.

I thought to take all the files into work and install DVDStyler, and try burning a copy there. It plays fine, using same type of media too.

I guess now I have to try and work out why when burnt from home doesn't play corrrectly, I'm thinking a problem with the burner but that wouldn't explain why it works fine using a software DVD player on my PC.

Considered Firmware Upgrade, but LG website says the latest firmware upgrade A105 is "for drives with original firmware versions below A104." I haven't done any upgrades so it is orginal, and the version is A104, not below, based on this the latest version must not be for my drive (worried I'm gonna kill it by running this firmware).

I dunno....maybe I should just smash the bloody thing into a million pieces and save up for a new, better burner?? lol

It really sounds like you might just need to set Nero to a lower burning speed. I have to do burn at 2X for stuff to work on my hardware player. Other people's players work fine when I burn stuff at 8X. Things are only marginal on my player when I burn at 6X. Try a slower burn and see if it helps.
