So, as a user of genuine Windows, I've downloaded 'more secure' (yeah, not for my system at last...) and 'more comfortable' (now I don't even want to try it...) browser from Microsoft. After installing it, I suddenly found that VirtualDubMod is not working anymore, and a window is being seen with option to send an error report to MS. But the far mre difficult to handle problem, is that AviSynth don't work too. I mean, MeGUI complains about 'can't open file' when loading avs script, and Aegisub (tool for handling ass/ssa subtitles), which uses AviSynth for opening media, also reports an 'Unknown Error' while trying to open audio/video.

I am putting it here, because I've already spent half an hour talking with local Microsoft service, which gave me nothing, except of high telephone bill. But me and my issues with MS 'support' is another, long story.

So, is ANYONE experienced alike problems after install IE7? I'll be more than thankful if someone will help me. I don't want another disk format, after almost 1.5 week from the last one.

PS. I haven't mentioned it: of course I've uninstalled IE7, but it does nothing.

PS2. Of course I had reinstalled both vdm and avs, aith clening registry in-between...

Even Version() doesn't work? Hmm. My guess would be that either VFW got hosed, or some particular VFW codec did. You might try uninstalling codecs (or the easy way, backup and remove the drivers32 key in the registry, reload it when you're done). You might check for and delete all instances of avisynth.dll before reinstalling again, and also make sure the plugin path in the registry is correct (if you don't manually load everything).

Then use System Restore to go back to a time before you installed IE7. That might work...

Use sistem restore, and never believe MS. If for some reason you cannot do sistem restore, then try to leave only necessary filters (ds source, dgdecode,...) in plug-ins directory, and other move to some other.
