View Full Version : Problem with R1 "The Matrix" interleaved material

Having problem getting RB v1.20 to correctly create title with interleaved material.

* Matrix Region 1 - Title 2 is the main movie, Title 6 has interleaved material, selectable by user clicking the "white bunny"

* Desired outcome: two selectable titles - theatrical title and enhanced title with additional interleaved "making of" streams; no menus or other extra materials.

* Problem is created title has no sound except occasional short burst of noise, incorrect aspect ratio, only one title that plays around interleaved material. No bunny.

* RB settings
- input: The Matrix - Region 1 (ISO mounted to virtual PC drive)
- Movie only mode
- output DVD DL (to speed up testing and also eliminate encoders as source of problem)
- RB selects VTS2 which is the correct titleset containing title 2 (theatrical) and 6 (interleaved).
- RB recognizes the title has interleaved material, per log
- no other apparent error messages.
- played output in two different software players, no STB (got none)

I did a lot of searching and reading and see the bulk of angle/interleaving problems were more than a year ago just before 1.0 released and not much mention of many problems since than. I do very few backups with angles/interleaving so trying to use RB for this use is a bit new to me. Maybe it isn't even possible to preserve both titles and the "bunny" selector.

I'll check it out... but "The Matrix" is one of my main test titles and I've run it probably 50 times over the course of DVD-RB development without issues.

Have you done any preprocessing at all? Especially can you make sure did your ripper isn't set up to modify any of the ILVU?

I'll also have to analyze the implications of attempting to do that disc as "Movie-Only"... as I recall, I don't think this is a multi-angled movie -- I think it's seamless branching.

Hi,

I am pretty certain the ripping process was ANYDVD into DVDDecrypter to ISO output on HD which is what I use for RB processing.

This is a common title so I am still thinking it is something unusual I am trying to do; maybe it is "movie only" mode as it seems quite the feat for RB to gather all the necessary "bunny selector" code and get it into a two title movie only version. This DVD does not use standard angle processing and nor "seamless" branching as it has the bunny code to allow user selective branching.

I ran again as "menu and movie only" but it still had similar problems. I ran a full menu, movie, and extra backup to a DL output and this version shows the bunny and allows for selecting the alternate stream but the sound is still absent except for the occasional grunt. The sound on the main menus is mostly intact. The initial WB logo sound is missing but the rest of the menu audio seems ok. The proper aspect ratios for menu and main titles seem intact.

I ran Pgcedit on the ISO version. It throws a warning upon start. "There are empty (0 byte) VOB files in the menu domains: VTSM1 and VTSM3. Although it is legal, Nero will complain. Delete the empty VOB files, and fix the references in the IFO now?"

See if your version gets this same error. If not then it is suspect and I'll need to go back and recreate the original ISO backup.

I can't say anything about the sound problem, that's up to jdobbs.

But

In both modes only the largest VTS will be kept, so VTS6 with the white rabbit extra stuff will be blanked.

You have to use full backup mode, maybe use MenuShrink to convert your menu in front of RB to stills first, run prepare and delete everything unwanted with RB's editor afterwards => Save => Rebuild.

And please, if you post log files, format them with the CODE-Button (http://forum.doom9.org/images/editor/code.gif) otherwise this thread gets really confusing. ;)

You have to use full backup mode, maybe use MenuShrink to convert your menu in front of RB to stills first, run prepare and delete everything unwanted with RB's editor afterwards => Save => Rebuild.On the rare, complex authored large titles I may just rip the whole disc to DL media with a modified IFO to jump directly to the theatrical title. That way I get what I always want: stick disc in player and have movie start straight away; yet still have the menu structure as well as the option to play the "rabbit" version.

Thanks for the wrap code suggestion; did not know it existed and do not like the embedded code either.
