Hi all, I love the autogk program, and I am no stranger in using it. I recently encoded a movie with it (requiem for a dream) and the audio is out of synch with the video, by a few seconds at least.

What is the best way of fixing this? I understand that I can use virtualdubmod to help fix the audio? But for that to happen, I would two separate files, an audio file and the video file? Can someone at least direct me to get me started in learning more about this issue and fixing it?

If I were to rip the audio stream using a program such as dvd decrypter, what format would that audio be? AC3? If so, how do I go about converting that to mp3?

You can adjust the audio of your existing file quite easily with VirtualDubMod:

1) Open the file
2) Click Streams > Stream List
3) Right-click the stream and select Interleaving...
4) Enter a value that approximates the out-of-synch condition and click the OK's (An easy way to determine this is to play it in Media Player Classic and adjust it until it's correct, then enter that adjusted value in VirtualDubMod)
5) Click File > Save as..., select Direct Stream Copy from the drop-down list and save with a new, unique filename

If you use VirtualDubMod by itself, you'll have to do a few trial-and-error tests to determine the value.

Hello. I downloaded VOBBlanker, but the error I am getting is "Invalid input file. Please select the video manager VIDEO_TS.IFO" It seems to require a specific file called "VIDEO_TS.IFO". But my ripped files from DVD Decrypter only have a filed called "VTS_01_0.IFO" along with the VOB files. This file is rejected by VOBBlanker.

The problem I am trying to correct is that when these VOB files have been processed by AutoGK, using XVID, with all auto settings to a 700K size, or to a full DVD size, the audio is several seconds ahead of the video motion. So you hear the speech, then a few seconds later, see the person's mouth moving.

Thank you for your help on this.

1) This is a cross-post of this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=925702#post925702).

2) The solution to correct your existing file is right above your post.

3) Use RipIt4Me before encoding with AutoGK.

I have done all this, but in experimenting with audio delay settings in Media Player Classic, was not able to "guess" and arrive at a correct delay setting. Ex. -300, + 12000, + 800, -800, etc. I did this for several hours, and just don't seem to get it. If I could determine the setting, then I would gladly use the dubbing solution you offer, as it makes sense.

But is there not some other way to take the "movie only" vob files and further process them to remove the problem?

It would be far easier to re-rip the disk using RipIt4Me.

Please see my 1/7/07 post under "Audio/Video Sync problems with AutoGK-JimR"

The "Recipe" cited works with 'full-movie', 'movie only' and 'episodic' DVD source material. ;)
