i have a movie here with vbr mp3... when i try to split it using nandub, the 1st part of the movie is fine... but the second part (same keyframe as starting point) starts with a sync error of around 20 seconds!!! the whole avi file itself plays fine though...
i have done several clips in the same way (gordian knot) and had no problems by now....
the movie plays fine, but when i seek in nandub and then play, the sound is VERY out of sync... saving the 1st part works.... saving a part not starting at frame 0 results in desaster....

I encountered something similar. In fact, I have a well-encoded movie with two vbr-mp3 audio tracks. Delay of the first was 1040 ms, the second 14200. The avi (~1400mb) plays fine, all audio in sync, stream switching also works. I use the Nandub that came with GordianKnot 0.26 to split the file, following the Doom9 guide. The first part is perfect, while the second one has some strange delays: both tracks play too early. I had an idea and saved the second part with 1040 msecs of interleaving, and that solved the problem for the first track. But the second one is not at all 14200 or any combination (+,-) of the two values. My rip is done now, I just guessed a delay length and that worked for me (around 10000 for the second track, I don't see any delays now), but I'd like to have a stable, working method for splitting (dual) vbr-mp3 avis. Do you know any? What did I do wrong? Or should I use CBR instead of VBR, which seems a bit obsolete to me? (I don't intend to use AC3 here, so that's out of question.)
Thanks!

Why not use OGG instead? It has native support for dual and more audio streams. To me that's a much better idea than having to use hacked code just to get two mp3's in one avi. Koepi's OggMux 0.9.3 is very self explanitory and easy to use. All you need are the Tobais filters and your ready to go.
The only drawback I see to using OGM is that you must use the .srt subtitle streams, which have to be processed and then checked for spelling errors. But if your dealing with anime (which is horribly translated) that's a plus. :D

Hi!
I am open to any new experience, but that would take much needed time and an extra step after GKnot if I'm thinking right. So I might try out OGG in the future - thanks for the advice! - but I still have the full avi and would like to split it! ;))) Anyone could help me/us with that?

i've done brotherhood of the wolf with 2 audio tracks one vbr mp3 and one ac3. No problems splitting it. I was using the divx 5 codec so I couldn't play it in nandub. No sync issues though. You sure you split at keyframes?

Hi!
I'm using DivX5 and Gordian Knot, following exactly the Doom9 guide. (That means, I cut at keyframes). How big your original ac3s' delay were? Because in my case, one was above 14000 msecs, but when encoding other movies, I found the delays were typically around 70-150 msecs, that we can't easily hear. So maybe the problem was here all the time, we just didn't notice it, and it comes audible when the delays are extremely high?:(

could be, I had no delays. A possible answer is that delay values are not taken into account by nandub when splitting a file.
