Merge two videos - Split Screen down middle?

Im curious if theres a vdub plugin which will allow this? It seems fairly simple but what I want to do is take two videos, crop 50% off each side and then join them together. Is there any simple way of doing this with either avisynth or preferably in VirtualDub itself?

In Avisynth it's easy:

vid1=AviSource("first.avi").Crop(as needed)
vid2=AviSource("second.avi").Crop(as needed)
StackHorizontal(vid1,vid2)

I don't know any way to do it in VirtualDub.
