13th December 2006, 00:19
It seems when I do Movie Only the finished iso image is too large to be burned by Imgburn. I am using Version 1.20.4 , The finished iso size is 4,706, 476. Below is the Re-builder Log. All went well until the burning w/ Imgburn. I stopped it so it would not burn to the DVD as I did not want to waste a DVD.

With both HC v0.19.1 and CCE Basic 2.70.01.14 I got 4.31g.

What did you use to rip the disc?

I used DVDDecrypter as there is no encryption on the DVD as shown below:

This is the first time that this has happened on any of the versions of DVD-RB Pro. I could not see anything incorrect in the logs but maybe others will find out what went wrong. I'll re-do the movie and report back.

Edit:this time I'll only keep 6.1 and delete all of the others

Re-did the movie and same problem(removed all audio except 6,1). I decided to do the movie when Imgburn came up w/ the size problem. The movie did burn but way to close to the outer edge. I did the movie in Shrink and it did the movie and it came in at 4.32gb. This either has to be a problem w/ Hanks encoder or I accidentially changed something today when I tried to do a movie using the IPOD controls. Can you tell me where I can get the previous version of DVD-RB -Pro as I had no problems w/ it.

did you re-rip the movie using ripitforme ? or try and use anydvd - just in case, i have had rips with dvd-decrypter that looked fine but wernt - used rip it for me and all worked fine

just a thought

I just picked that up yesterday and haven't backed it up yet. I'll give it a run and see what I get.

Re-ripped it using AnyDVD and the problem persists but thanks for the suggestion. The only thing I have done different is to encode InsideMan to IPOD. I try and rip it w/ DVDFAB Dec. and then run it through VobBlanker before I try again. I am also going to do a fresh install of the program and only use the default setting like I always do.

The iPod encoding features are completely separate (actually in different modules) than the standard DVD backup. I was very careful about that so the two could be debugged independently and the new routines wouldn't add risk to those that are well tested. So I don't think there is a connection there. I think it's more likely something peculiar in that specific disc. I'll find out more with testing.

Yours is the NTSC version, I assume?

Carpo

try this setup - rip it for me and dvd-decrypter, anydvd + dvd-decypter

only time i have had a bad rip was when dvdfab decypter couldnt handle the disc

if the two methords above dont work, maybe there is a prb with the disc and/or drive

@jdobbs - did you see them pm i sent you ?

Jdobbs and Carpo,
Thanks for answering. I tried all of the combinations of the rippers as I usually use AnyDVD w/ DVD-D. I am now trying DVDFAB-Dec and ripped main movie to HD only. Ran it through VobBlanker(no changes but what the heck) and this time I am using QuEnc instead of Hank's encoder. I did trancode the movie w/ Shrink and the size camie out to 4350 which is what I want. I just do not like burning to close to the outer edge. It would be nice if that feature was offered w/in the GUI like it is in Shrink. I'll advise in a few hours how this try comes out. I really appreciate the help and suggestions.

That feature is offered - it's called (Beta) Preview/Edit :)

Have you done any preprocessing? I'm on my third iteration of this disc and it was sized normally on both of the first two. I'm trying it with HC 0.19.1 now.

Carolina Mike

Blutach,
Thanks for the information.

Jdobbs,
Re-did the DVD using QuEnc and all was well. Uninstalled the current version. Clean out the registry and then re-installed the program. Used this time Hanks encoder and all is well. I have no idea what the problem was but all is well now. No pre-processing was needed as the structure is fine and there was no encryption that DVDD can not handle

Thanks for everyone's help

Wow, that's really odd. At first I thought perhaps you may have set a higher value for TargetSectors -- but it obviously wasn't in your INI file... I wonder what could have been the cause?

Carolina Mike

Jdobbs,
If I was a betting man, the only thing it could have been is a bad D/L or it was something to do w/ me playing around w/ the IPOD feature and maybe not setting it back to the correct parameter but all is well now after re-installing the Pro version. Thanks for the help
