I saw an add in a local flyer magazine. It read Little Mermaid, original VHS tape $800. (This is in the US) Why would a tape like that be worth that much?

Yes, must be the VHS edition with the "banned" artwork. Well, not really banned, but the artwork was changed later after rumors started circulating that a phallus was drawn on the cover, disguised as a castle spire, by the peeved artist who did the artwork. This was later proven to be untrue, but Disney changed the cover anyway.

See if you can spot the "phallus":

These usually sell for a premium in eBay, but $800 is way OTT. Only way to know for sure is to ask that guy why he is asking this much.

If I thought I could get $800 for my VHS copy I'd be on eBay right now instead of here.

There's a scene that people claimed had the minister's erect penis moving under his tunic, though it was meant to be his knee.

Disney is trying to wake up sex feelings on children sooner. I have an episode of batman where a blondy was talking on the phone using only a long t-shirt and her underwear that was it... and someone enter to door that sort of surprise her so she jumped a little bit that could see her underwear and provocative legs.
