Best way to convert h.264 ts to mpeg-2 (HDTV)

I have serveral h.264 ts files from BBC-HD on my hardisk.

I am not able to play those files with my kiss dp-600 media player because it has no support to play h.264 files.

Now i am looking for a way to convert those h.264 ts files
(1440x1080/25fps, Audio [AC3 5.1] 384kbps) to 1920x1080
mpeg-2 ts files

What software do i need to do this, and will i loose a lot of quality during the conversion.
