View Full Version : iPod encoding not starting

I just ripped a 4.2gb DVD to encode to the iPod format, selected the mobile only option, but after the prepare function I am told that encoding is not needed. Is there a way to force encoding?

Do you have the latest DVDRB (1.20.4)?

From the changelog:
- Inhibited the "Already Small Enough" message when MOBILE
encoding is the only thing being done. (v1.20.3)

I have 1.20.4. I'm thinking its a problem with the video as it was homemade DVD-Lab one! It looks like it starts encoding then stops. I'll investigate further.

Can you tell me exactly what message you're getting? Even if you did get the message "No compression is necessary. Continue anyway?" -- you should be able to continue by pressing selecting "Yes" -- and in v1.20.4 you shouldn't even be asked if you have selected "Mobile Only"...

@rendez2k

Try to open VTS01_PGC_00001.AVS with a SW player (e.g. MPC) or virtualdubmod. Do you get an error message?

If so please post the content of VTS01_PGC_00001.AVS.

And by the way I wouldn't use AviSynth 2.5.7 until there's a stable version. ;)

And by the way I wouldn't use AviSynth 2.5.7 until there's a stable version. Definitely.

AviSynth 2.5.7 was installed by another bit of software - I will change it back. Through MPC I get "m2AudioAC3Source:unable to open file...." a codec issue?

This will happen if VTS01_PGC_00001.AC3 isn't in your working D2VAVS folder. Can you check this?

Is it possible that there is no first audio stream (maybe a blanked one) in your DVDlab source?

Ahh... good point. I'd say the chance is very good that the only stream is an MP2 audio stream. In v1.10.4 only AC3 is supported for audio output. I'm working on enabling MP2, LPCM, and DTS right now.

It is an MP2 stream - that explains it then!
