I have a slight problem... no big deal, I can steel encode as before, how ever I can't watch the segments in the segments viewer no more :( I can see them in vobblanker, MPC.. So I know which segment to compress or blank, strange it did work before. Any clue what may cause that ..?

Thanks, Elad

Welcome back, but please follow forum rules, specifically, rule 9: use a proper thread title. You can hit edit on your first post and then 'go advanced'. You'll be able to edit your thread title. Thank you.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure some clever folks will be along shortly.

@Voodoochild

Have you uninstalled any media players as of late? If so, you may have removed an MPEG codec, which is necessary for viewing DVD material.

Have you INstalled any media players recently? Sometimes multiple codecs will clash with one another (it's rare, but I've seen it happen).

If none of the above fits, try reinstalling DVD Rebuilder using the full installation package, then reboot. Whether or not this works, give us a post to let us know what you did and how it all worked (or didn't work) for you.

I did installed AVI recomp, for encoding DIVX with subtitles in them. AVI recomp install XVID encoder/decoder , it uses the AVI synth that on my machine anyway, since DVD-RB uses also and it install VirtualDubMod in it's own folder, so the only codec here is XVID, which is for mpeg4 not mpeg2. Any way I'll to unistall AVI Recomp and see how it works.

The playback window uses several O/S DLLs that are related MCI playback. It's possible that one of those got hosed by the new installation.

Have you tried uninstalling "AVI recomp" to see if it starts working again?

I unInstalled AVI Recomp and the xVid encoder/decoder, opened DVD-RB and segment viewer is working again.

I don't know if it's the xVid codec or the AVI Recomp it self, that prevented DVD-RB from displaying mpeg2. Problem is I need that software... so i guess I'll use AVI Recomp at work and DVD-RB at home

A previous thread mentioned installing Xvid in Vista killed their DVD-RB preview. I know Xvid can sometimes take over raw YV12 decoding in directshow, perhaps it is related to that.

Do you have ConvertToYUY2 checked in AVS Options?

ConvertToYUY2(interlaced=true) , I do have it checked in my AVS options.. should I remove it? it's the default when installing DVD-RB
As I understand it's a must if I use CCE and I do use CCE.

10x match though now we know for sure Xvid Kills DVD-RB preview

Regardless of which setting you use, if you have CCE selected the line will be added automatically, whether it's checked or not.

Just as a test, you might try changing it to "ConvertToYV12(interlaced=true)" temporarily in one of the segments (with notepad) -- and then click on that segment in the viewer. That, at least, might tell you if something is specifically interfering with YUY2 playback.

I installed AVI recomp again without the Xvid codec and DVD-RB played video no problems.
Installed Xvid codec, No Video. so it is the Xvid.

Changed the AVS script to ConvertToYV12(interlaced=true)" still No video, so it's not the YUY2 only, it's the Xvid codec.

I playback XviD using FFDSHOW and it doesn't cause problems -- so that's probably a good alternative to directly installing the XviD codec.

but "AVI recomp" need Xvid to recompile the Xvid series/movies.
that were the problem began, FFdshow was the only codec I needed till now... :-)

You probably already know this, but you can do XviD recompression with FFMPEG -- which is included with the latest version of DVD-RB. You can also do it with VirtualDub using the FFDSHOW codec.
