Hey, i am encoding Pearl Harbour using 3 cds, well i made the encode of the video fine, now my problem lies within muxing the ac3 with the avi. First of all, i used dvd2avi to rip the ac3 soundtrack, i didnt change anythihng at all, now when i interleave it with the same settings under interleaving (except for interleave every 64 ms, i changed it to that) adn set both video and audio on direct stream copy, then i press F7 adn save my avi. Now here is where the problem occurs, when i start watching the movie it plays fine, then if i try to fast forward it beyond 2 minutes it will give me the error "Invalid file format" and i wont be able to watch the movie, BUT, if i play beyond that 2 minutes it will work fine, however if i decide to fast forward it, it is behind sync like maybe 1-10 min im guessing. I dont know what the problem is, i also tried using the ac3 stream that i ripping with dvd decrypter but no luck tehre, also another thing is that when i was encoding this movie with nandub + GKont, i didnt create an efc file as it was 3.8 meg, so i didnt use one in my second pass. Is that where my problem may be???
Sorry for ranting on like this, but hopefully someone may be able to help me out!!!

Why do you use for intrleave 64ms. I have a lot of avi with ac3 and I never had this problem. I think you shuld try with this: Preload 80, interleave 80 or 40/40.
Using for interleave 40 means every one frame, 1 frame=40ms.

I used flask to 'direct stream copy' the audio out of the vobs while encoding the video, and muxed the two in nandub (same movie oddly enough) - plays fine, just loses sync, seemingly progressively worse the further into the movie it plays.

I use the defaults for my interleave settings which is 500/1 and they work perfect. However, I don't use SoundBlaster products. Apparently, SoundBlasters have issues using the deault 500/1.
What player are you using? WiMP and Playa seem to have sync issues so try BSplayer or ZoomPlayer.

Thanks, i dont know why, but it only this movie thats giving me problems, i would always use 500ms preload adn interleave avery 64/96 ms adn it worked perfectly playing in Windows Media Player, now thanks to roy, i tired putting preload 40 adn interleave every 40 ms adn it seems to work, although every couple of seconds the movie will skip, adn im using windows media player. I will try to use BSplayer adn post what happens..

Maybe the AC3 is corrupt? Let Azid "validate" the file and see if it list CRC errors.
