I ripped the dvd to hard disk using cladMdec and copied the ifo file. Then I renamed the output vob files to vts_01_x.vob and try to use dvd2svcd to convert. The whold process was successful except that the subtitles are not included. The "Subs" directory is empty. I used to use smartrip without any problem. But that day for some reason smartrip was very slow (0.1x speed).

Is the problem with the ifo file I copied? Do I need to edit it?

G'Day James,

Are you looking at your backup viz the DVD ROM in your computer, or your standalone? I ask this as I don't see the subtitles viz WinDVD2.0/PowerDVD2.0 but have no probs seeing them in my standalone when viewing.

When you say:

> The "Subs" directory is empty.

Which one is the subs directory? I had always thought that DVD2SVCD had i-Author, author these into the created *.mpeg.

BTW. If you have explorer open in a small window whilst the DVD2SVCD process is running, you will see a load of *.BMP's created before the encoding commences. If not, I would suggest haveing a look at your settings.

Merry Christmas!

My standlone player does not display subtitles. The "Subs" directory is the directory dvd2svcd use to store subtitle bmps. It is empty which means it does not found any subtitles. Maybe cladMdec does not rip subtitles to hard disk. Can anyone verify that?

I would suggest trying to use Internal Routines or use Vstrip and see if you get the same problem. It sounds like the Subtitle stream was not ripped with cladMdec.
