both are own-made satellite registration that i deleted after compressing with Dgindex-avisynth,virtualdubmod and latest xvid from Celticdruid.Both plays regularly on my pc.

I can't see any differences,i tried changing the fourcc code to Divx5 and recompressing audio to mp3 but didn't help.Any ideas?I need these files!!

I must admit, I can't make head-nor-tail of GSpot's output reports :scared: But I seems as though your encode contains, B-VOP's GMC and Qpel.... Is that correct?

What's the make and model of your stand-alone player. Are you sure it supports all the afore mentioned MPEG-4 ASP implementations?

Cheers

@SeeMoreDigital

But BOTH the playable and unplayable files contain those same 3 references...

@SeeMoreDigital

But BOTH the playable and unplayable files contain those same 3 references... Yes... missed that :o

EDIT: The only major thing I can see that's different between the two files is in this line: -VIDEO_H264
VIDEO_MPEG2
VIDEO_MPEG2_3X2
VIDEO_MPEG2_BFF
VIDEO_MPEG2_I_L
VIDEO_MPEG2_PPF
VIDEO_MPEG2_PROG
VIDEO_MPEG2_TFF

I'm almost sure that i selected the Home Theather profile in xvid before encoding, so it sound a bit strange to me that Qpel and GMC are there.Maybe i'm wrong,anyway!
I also noticed that difference in
Video MPEG4 reference but i don't know what does it mean and how to change it in the second file.

it sound a bit strange to me that Qpel and GMC are there.They appear to be only "placeholders" in a standard list, with no values expressed for them - as opposed to the distinction pointed out by "SeeMoreDigital", wherein one of the two listings shows only the "placeholder" "MPEG4", while the other listing shows the placeholder "MPEG4" plus a value of "MPEG-4"...
