Help with deinterlacing

Hi. i'm trying to deinterlace PAL Star Trek TNG.

I get satisfactory to my eyes with simple,

separatefields()
selectodd()
eedi2()

However, some scenes are good with selectodd and others need selecteven. The difference between the 2 is that it selects the blurred scenes when incorrect.


I was going to just apply selectodd/even at the required ranges. However upon closer inspection it requires changing between the 2 too often. Read: slow way to do it.

I was hoping someone here could provide an easier way.

note: I realize st ain't easy to deinterlace. I've searched a few of the other threads but can't seem to get satisfactory results.

Any help would be appreciated.

edit: I've tried using Repair_PAL_TNG_DVD() by scharfis_brain, but couldn't get it to work. Can't find all the required files.

StarTrek NG originally used 30p CG sequences with 24p film. This is hard enough to handle for the NTSC version. Combine that with a PAL transfer and you got a nightmare.

I would suggest you buy the NTSC version if you want better luck.

I just spent a small fortune.

If I can get suggestions for the regular footage I can deal with the CG stuff later. It doesn't bother me if I have to deinterlace the CG footage separately.
