I've tried three times and wasted 3 DL discs trying to backup Disc 1 of King Kong Deluxe EE. First I used CloneDVD2 with AnyDVD running in the background and ripped to files and burned with Nero. The opening menu comes up, but when I select something, it freezes on that menu, although I can hear the music for the next menu, and if I press 'enter' I get the video for the selection, but I can't get any of the menus so I can navigate this thing! I also just used DVD Decrypter and ripped to files and burned with nero. I saw somewhere on this site about copy protection that messes up the menus..is this what is going on? Will using Decrypter to an image file and burning with ImgBurn produce any difference? I saw on the Revenge of the Sith post replies that said "Use Decrypter with default settings in "File" mode and select 'all files' not movie files, and another post said "Don't remove VOB Puops"
I can't afford any more coasters..these DL discs are expensive! Does anyone have the definitive answer to getting a good copy of this?? THANKS!!!!

Hi!
Since you want to make a full disc D/L backup copy of the 2005 version of "King Kong" (that contains no newer copy protection, such as "ARccOS" or "RipGuard"), I'd suggest you simply use DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 (WITHOUT AnyDVD or anything else running) to rip the full DVD - and then use IMGBurn to burn it...
Perhaps most important - Use Verbatim D/L DVD+R as, thusfar, it is the only brand and format proven to yield consistently good results.

Thanks! I'm trying that now. I've always used the Verbatim DVD+R DL's I buy them when they go onsale for $19.99 for a 10 pack at Best Buy. I also forgot to mention I have Pioneer DVR-110's for burners.

It worked great!! Thanks! I'm also wanting to make backups of Pirates of The Caribbean Dead Man's Chest & Miami Vice. What would I do if these have the new kinds of ARccOS or Ripguard protection you are talking about?

Glad to hear it solved your problem ;>}
What would I do if these have the new kinds of ARccOS or Ripguard protection you are talking about?
Try ripping your DVD(s) using the easy to use "RipIt4me" package (Incorporates RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, FixVTS, and, if you don't want to burn to D/L media, DVD Shrink). You can download this excellent freeware from:
www.ripit4me.org
While you're at that site, read the excellent "how to" tutorial...
