Final movie plays back too fast

I just ripped a movie with Gknot (my first attempt) following the Divx4 guide at doom9. The resulting file played back way too fast. I checked the video only file and it plays back correctly. After finding that I figured it had something to do with the audio video muxing. I'm trying to squeeze this movie into a certain size, so I used 40kbps as my mp3 bitrate in gknot. The audio file shows up as 22 minutes in windows, but if I play the file in winamp it displays 1 hour which is the correct length. I have no idea why this isn't working, I hope you can help me. Oh, I'm using WinXP and the latest release of Gknot with Divx4.11.

go to the help-tab (in gknot) and read point 2.

D'oh lol! Mental note: check help files. Ok, what would you suggest for low bitrate audio then?

it's there as well:
to avoid downsampling you have to add "--resample 48" to your lame commandline options if you encode at low bitrates.
this will solve the sync (and speed) problem.

But if you encode at a high sampling rate with a low bitrate, won't that reduce quality? I guess I'll just do a test encode and see how it sounds to my ears.

40kbps and you are talking about quality? ;)

Best quality for the space anyway.:) I encoded it with the resample 48 and it sounds ok. Thanks for your help!
