Bought the new Sivercrest KH-6510 at Lidl france today.
Based on a Zoran Vaddis 886, a variant of the ZV 888.
Both are the same excepted HDMI ,Upscaler and the possibility of representing Hp-Jpegs for the great brother.
Test review here with DivxtestV2 results:

http://www.dv-rec.de/test/player2006/silvercrest/6511/6511.html

It is a great player (play everything excepted Xvid with GMC more than 1 WP) with a solid built-in construction.
Silent engine, great support for a lot of codecs (with the famous Nero recode SP).
Divx ultra support (menu and chapters)
No HDMI but a VGA output.
USB port

small subtitles AVI

Sub are not small but white with no grey background (arial,12). I know it could be better but there is no firmware for now.
Some problems are related concerning MP3 VBR (asynch A/V).
It could be a good idea to correct it in the future.

No problem in Gspot.
It plays correctly but a liitle bit jerky.
See in the setup if PAL or NTSC is disabled.
Choose 'automatic'. It can help.
Second, audio is VBR. Maybe it's the problem.
Try to encode audio in CBR and see what's happen.:)

No problem in Gspot
sorry I don´t understand

It plays correctly but a liitle bit jerky.
.. In your silvercrest 6510???
are you testing suplied files on a pc or another standalone player w/o zoran 886 (mediatek...)????
See in the setup if PAL or NTSC is disabled.
Choose 'automatic'. It can help.

xvid is 25pfs and comes from a pal source
6510´s setup :
changing from pal/ntsc/multi didn´t help (sony tv can handle both pal or ntsc, spanish standar is PAL)

audio is VBR. Maybe it's the problem.
Try to encode audio in CBR and see what's happen

I´ll change audio to CBR to see what happens, but..
I have encoded many VBR Xvid´s (Quant type: MPEG or H.263)...
without a "green block" problem (ocasionally an a/v synch problem but it can be "solved" with "stop & go to" )

thanks

Mine is the silvercrest 6511 (silver)
The 6510 is black (your model?).
Sure, I tested your clips on the 6511 with no problem excepted a liitle bit jerky (repeat) but it's really very acceptable. I could play your movie without difficulty.
The green bloc problem can appear if your TV is no correctly configured with the DVD player (RGB output???).

Gspot is a freeware you can download to see if your avi file is correctly encoded for divx compliance .

Just tried playing them on my Tevion DVD 8000, which is fitted with a Zoran Vaddis 888 chip-set... No green blocks or smears either!

6510 & 6511 are the same hardware -at last the ones sold here in spain- (confirmed: I opened one of each and photograph the inside)
Mine is silvercrest 6511 silver (same as yours) sorry : I said 6510 by mistake

The green bloc problem can appear if your TV is not correctly configured with the DVD player (RGB output???).

absolutly not. It,s dificult to explain (my english is horrible) but I´ll try:

- Never had this "green blurry blocks" or "green spots" problem except with this two particular xvid . Not all the screen turns green but only some "moving" parts in scene ...
Played Video dvds, mpeg (svcd, cvd, vcd), divx, another xvid´s etc on my 6511 .. no problems
- same xvid files plays well in three standalone players (2 w/ mediatek, one w/ ¿ess?)

Read in spanish forum about same problem with some zoran 776 players (silvercrest 6508, samsung Samsung DVD-P244/5,Energy Sistem Emotionn 1500 ...)
that´s why I was guessing it was an xvid/zoran 866 " bug" (again)
- the problem only happens in a certain H:min:sec. a liitle bit jerky but avi is "playable" (except for the green blocks), it doesn´t stop (freeze)...

Gspot is freeware you can download to see if your avi file is correctly encoded for divx compliance

I did before posting but don´t know exactly what to look for
(to many b-vops??) as it´s very technical information

http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7831/46510cg4.gif
it´s not a packed bitstream problem nor gmc ,qpel...
Sure, I tested your clips on the 6511 with no problem

No I,m not mad . No i´m not kidding you
Can you read spanish? (or make google translate it for you) ??

Three people reported the same problem with SOME xvid (not all)/6510/11 in this forum:

Removed sound from xvids using virtualdubmod

No way green is still there ¡¡

So It´s not an audio but "video" issue , am I right?

I hooked up my Tevion to an RGB/component capable display and can see the problem now....

I wonder if it has anything to do with the width of your encodes (at 568) not being a mod-16 resolution!?

Cheers

:thanks:
568/16= 35,5 umh I understand ....

have to investigate this
-----------
First I thought it was a "personal matrix" xvid problem (it´s not)

None of the encodes I do nowdays have the problem -I use autogk or gk (or pinnacle when it´s a mini-dv source) and I am not able to "repeat" the problem

These xvid are quite old and I don´t remenber how they where coded or where they come from (as gk resizes always to x/16 ..)

One is a "familiar" film (mini-dv source). another (the one you saw) is a pal dvd converted to xvid

6511 is connected (scart, rgb) to sony 29 inches tv (4:3 not 16:9)
tried on a tft ( player has vga out) and the problem is still there

I can´t understand why I see the green traces and freelock7 don´t ¡¡¡¡
(we have the same hardware)

Seemoredigital seems to have found a way. Another resolution (why 1:35??-it's for 4:3) could help or it is an hardware problem(?)
I have a Philips TV 16:9 with a scart connection configured in RGB.

Yes, you´re right that was the problem
568 is not a "valid" width ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

I made some small "test" xvid files with gordian knot and tried them on my sc-6511

source were dvd vobs and mpeg2 files ( from my video camara )

a) with "correct" WxL
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8434/gkcorrectarqn8.gif
---> no problem ¡

b) with "wrong" WxL (568 x XXX for example)
http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/6540/gkwrongargu5.gif
--> sometimes ...green blocks ¡

I must say both ("a" and " b" type) xvids play well on my mediatek standalone player (and of course on pc)
--------------------------------------

By the way, many tried those sample *.avi (the ones with "wrong" W*L) on their sc6510/11

and all of them reported "green blocks"
Even more: "kissripper" have told me he can see the same green blocks in his silvercrest 6508 (zoran vaddis 776)
http://www.forodivx.com/showthread.php?t=55952&page=3
or it is a hardware problem
well.. It seems to be a hardware problem with some zoran players and It was my fault because I changed GK default settings
(:o and forgot to reset them after...)

One last question:
is mod-16 enought or should I go for mod-32 in gordian gnot? For generating MPEG-4 Part-2 files (suitable for hardware playback), mod-16 is perfect ;)

Thanks again for your (waisted?) time
