Hey im converting my VOBs to AVI useing the Huvyuff codec (I think thats spelt right) and when scene have something flashing or fading in/out the colour in that area is very liney. Is this because the codec or am I doing something wrong? and what other codec could I use to avoid this problem.
Oh and 1 more thing, useing vitualdubMOD if i change the FPS from 29 to 24 is that ok?

Without seeing an image, I can only speculate that your video requires the application of a deinterlacing filter...

It's either interlaced or telecined content - you either need to deinterlace it or use IVTC. There are plenty of guides available to help you find out which it is and how to deal with it. The codec used is of no relevance.

Ok I used the IVTC guide and it has workedvery well. Its not 100% better, some scenes are still liney but not as much as it used to be. should I try and deinterlace the video and see if that makes better results?

You could do a Googlesearch for (type all on one line, including quotation marks and the "and") "VirtualDub filters" and "deinterlace"...

By the way can anyone point me to a FieldDeinterlace download? It's part of the Decomb package:
