Ok I have messing around with this since the 360 came out and now I can't stop trying since the Dash update in November that alows you to play files direct from Pc or a DVD. How can I convert my .TS or MPEG2 (all of these are recorded HD videos 1080i or 720p) to WMV HD to play back off of a DVD or from my PC.

I use HDtoMPEG to convert .TS to MPG format. So far I have tried Premier Pro, Advanced X Converter, and Windows Media Encoder. Windows Media Encoder always crashes. Premier pro take 3 days and seems to fail close to the end of the encode. Advanced X Converter can do it with a Windows media Encoder Profile, but they look like Crap.

Has any one Gotten this to work or know more about encoding HD that could give some step-by-step instructions???

So this works well

1. Use MEGUI to "create" a AVI synth script but do not encode just save...... Options you want:

2. Modify it:
a. Deblocking
b. DO NOT use color correction
c. Use Minimal DeNOISE
d. Resize to 720p
e. Use the IVTC that MeGUI recommends
f. Modify the DGDECODE line to read "video=DGDECODE(Transport......)
g. add "audio=NicAudioAC3(transport.ac3)
3. Add this line
audio (video, audio).delay (-0.00) to the last line
This will dub the two together .... use the audio delay - so say -877ms will be "-0.877"
4. Use the freeware WinMENC (search above), load the script, choose the FPS (proably 23.96 if film, choose 5.1, choose quality, choose AP profile, CBR or VBR, and MAX AVERAGE BITRATE 8000 with MAX BITRATE 15000

Hit go.

You are done.

Now why the hell MS cannot make this simple for us is beyond me...
