Petition to get UK TV regulator to allocate frequencies to HD

I've decided to start a petition about forcing the UK TV Regulator (Ofcom) to allocate the switchover frequencies to HD services on this new 'petition the PM' interactive democracy website. This is something that I think people here would like to see.

Well assuming the best case scenario, all muxes go 64QAM and we get two new muxes that gives 192Mb/s total bandwidth, not a lot.

I'm pretty sure the government would like TV to go totally satellite and sell off all terrestrial frequencies for non-fixed location services, but for that to happen the BBC needs to get it's act together over freesat and produce an open EPG and interactive service and losers like five need to stop paying $ky to encrypt their channels.

Not that I wouldn't like to see some HD on DVBT, but I'd rather see decent bitrates for the services that are there first.

When the analogue gets switched off, there'll be room for a couple HDTV channels, but that's about it. They'd have to get rid of some channels (ITV Play anybody?) on Freeview to make room for more, but again, I can see only BBC and ITV doing it regularly for sports and suchlike.
