Need simple and good - but SIMPLE (!)DVD2DIVX Encoder tool

Hi There! - I am looking for a very simple tool to convert from DVD
to DivX. I was already searching of course, but all I find, is too much. that means: I dont wat to edit in hundreds of tools, where I find myself in retirement when i´m done. I want something quite similar to the divx own Encoder, that come with the 15 days trial, but that thing is too simple again for me. =) You cant adjust any things - for example sharpness! or some encoding features. I was comparing a similar film, and found that the one encoded with the DivX own one , was not that good, as the other one, wich had more sharpness.

So is there an other way to encode something easy and has some options? I dont need menues or so - just want to encode the Film. Everything else is not important.

Ok, there are a couple ways you can go.

You could try Fair Use Wizard which is a complete tool, it is not supported very well, but it does work.

Or you could use two tools a ripper to get the information from the DvD to you computer and then an encoder to make a DivX file. I would recommend this approach.

For a ripper there are two good solutions.
-DVDFab Decrypter (free)
-Ripit4Me
Since you are looking for the simplest, with the fewest tools I would recommend DVDFab Decrypter.

Now that you have got it ripped their are several very easy tools that you could use to encode the movie. I will start with the simplest.
-DivX converter - very, very simple, but limited.
-avi.net -- great tool, very easy to use.
-Dr 2 - easy to use but expandable.
-AutoGK - One of the simplest and most popular tools.

I don't think you can get much simpler than DVDFab Decrypter and the DivX converter. This is the easiest and will get you started; but it won't be long before you want more control and you will move up the "food chain" to one of the other tools.

I testet now all these things and I must say: Well said " at first glance" - but there is none of them I found useful up to know...
I tell you:

AutoGK: apearently, it needs to hav splitten up the movie into audio and video? Or was I something missing there?

avi.NET: is working, but I get then 3 different avi´s when i drop 3 drop 3 VOB´s that make one Film. Just putting your selection of VOB`s in a Folder, giving some settings around what you might have, (at this point there could be set what else you like to have from DVD - e.g. subtitels, menues) and THEN PRESS the holy start Button.. if there would be a joblist included, that - fine - then you can add some of them and then it goes overnight.. but so... i need to stick them together afterwords.. !?? oh.. grrr.. =)))

the DivX Converter: Yes, as I mentioned already, it´s also for me too simple. Should be nice, it would read Encoderparameters, that should came out with the codec (there is only one for Decoding) . Xvid has one (configure Encoder).

I am working too much at PC with complicating tools. So from this perspective, I am looking from time to time fr tools that where build with the intention: keep it stupid sipmple... :D

but if u know how to get rid of the multiple avi problem in avi.NET - then please let me also know..

MeGUI is awesome, but may be a little too intensive for your purposes. It's very straightforward when you get used to it, but can be daunting for newbies :)

AutoGK is great. You should just be able to point it a folder of VOBs.

For autogk you do not need to "break up" the audio from video. Just rip the "main movie" from a dvd and you should have a file called something like VTS_01_0.ifo which is information file. In autogk all you need to do is select that file as your input file. Autogk will do the rest.

When you rip the "main movie" from a dvd you will have a string of files that look like this.
-VTS_01_1.VOB
-VTS_01_2.VOB
-VTS_01_3.VOB
-VTS_01_4.VOB
-VTS_01_5.VOB

in avi.net all you need to do is click the "IN" button point to the first file in the string (VTS_01_1.VOB) and avi.net will automatically select the rest of the files in the string. Don't use drag and drop. (You are making it harder than it really is).
