Hi
I have a movie in AVI format that I am trying to burn to DVD using Toast v6. When I insert my blank dvd - program tells me that my AVI file is too large for the available space on my dvd. How can I resolve this issue? Is there a way to compress the AVI - but still make it readable on a DVD player?
I have ripped AVI's to DVD's in the past using Toast - however they must've been smaller file sizes because I did not get this error.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I am new to all this too, but if you can make your avi into an ISO file rather than burning it straight to DVD you can then use DVD Shrink to.. erm.. shrink your ISO file to fit it onto a DVD. The goos people on this website have written guides on DVD shrink which is really easy to use.
Hope that helps

you have to recompress or split with virtualdub
if your player reads only dvd you can convert using tmpgenc + tmpgenc dvd author (a simple way)

Nero is the way to go to convert it. Never ever gives me any problems. (Knock on Wood):)

One way is split the avi file to smaller files then burn to several disc.Another way is change your disc to a larger one,DVD5 to DVD9,or DVD10,etc.:D

Hi, try using Nero to make a video DVD, if your file is too large for the disc it'll prompt you to adjust quality so that it becomes suitable for the disc space, just say yes

Topic creator says he is using toast though... which would imply he is on a mac.

You can adjust the average bit rate to bring the file size down.
How large is the avi file and what is the length of the video?
