Hi

I got a xvid format film with a resolution of 672*288 (2.33:1) an i want to convert it to svcd.
According to the guides at the page, it have to be at 720*572 display resolution for PAL.
Well somehow im stuck here.
Ive tried all the three options svcd have 4:3 (no border, movie is spoiled) , 16:9 ( borders, but to few, movie is still spoiled) and anamorphic ( same result as before)

Im trying this for 2 days and now im terribly confused and dont have any idea what to do.

I thought of writing a avisinth script with a resize to 720*288
and add 72 lines boardes at both top and bottom but somehow i get a little bit more borders as the original movie have.

im thankful for any help :(

I assume you are using the latest build.
Take a look here

It's heavy going if you're new to this, but it should help.
Please note, though, that SVCD does not support anamorphic 16:9 - your player might play it OK but if you try anamorphic you will get a non-standard-compliant SVCD.

BTW, resolution for PAL SVCD is 480x576 :)

hm yeah, i know, 480*576 for svcd, but i want to put a few movies on dvd with tmpgenc dvd author and it wants a resolution of 720*576. so i stretched it to this resolution.
My actual problem is that i dont know how to calculate the horizontal resolution. ive read the guides a few times, but somehow i dont get it. Either im to stupid to understand it (what i presume) or it isnt on the page (what i dont presume)

P.S.

Yes, i do have the latest build

480x576 is NOT a standard resolution for a DVD, thats why TMPGenc DVD Authors kicks it, just use DVDLab instead. Their own tute may help, http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/svcd.html

Bear in mind though what it produces is non standard dvd and may or may not play in your player.

Sorry! Dropped the ball on that one!
The link I meant to give you in my previous post was, in fact, this one.

As I said, heavy going, but it should sort you out.

To get DVD-resolution output of 720x576, select DVD as the output type in the Misc tab. Select No Images in the DVD Image tab and use the output mpv and mp2 files in TMPGEnc DVD Author
