What is the AUDIO_TS folder for? It always seems to be empty.

When burning DVDRB's output with Image Burn in Build Mode, does it matter whether you put the AUDIO_TS folder into it or not?

Leave it. It's supposed to be there even if it's empty. It is where DVD-Audio would be stored if there were any. There have been players reported that have problems with discs that don't have it (it's been a long time since I've heard of one, though).

I've seen many Pioneer DVD players refuse to play if the AUDIO_TS folder is not there. I have the OPPO OPDV971H unit which is fairly advanced for a DVD player and even it refuses to play discs that don't have the audio folder.

What a good questions. I've always wondered what it's there for. I guess we'll never know

I always included it in my burns.

Please read the previous posts more carefully:I've seen many Pioneer DVD players refuse to play if the AUDIO_TS folder is not there. I have the OPPO OPDV971H unit which is fairly advanced for a DVD player and even it refuses to play discs that don't have the audio folder.

Pretty much every burning app will add it if you don't have it. Don't fret on it; it take up 2 whole sectors of the filesystem (1 for ISO-9660 and 1 for UDF 1.02).
