Creating a flipper with PgcEdit's "Replace VTST Titles"

Hi,

I'm thinking about creating a 2-disc flipper from a DVD9 ("Yi Yi" Criterion), and I'd like to use PgcEdit as my main tool for the job.

Roughly, my idea is:

1) Author 2 temporary DVDs (Temp1 and Temp2) in MuxMan. Temp1 has Cells 1-15 of the original movie, Temp2 has Cells 16-30.
2) Make 2 copies (Copy1 and Copy2) of the original DVD9.
3) Use "Replace VTST Titles" function in PgcEdit on Copy1 to replace the main movie title with the one in Temp1.
4) Use "Replace VTST Titles" function in PgcEdit on Copy2 to replace the main movie title with the one in Temp2.
5) Fix the menus and VM commands in Copy1 and Copy2. Keep the original menus on both, but fix discrepancies like invalid chapter selection menus, etc.


I'd just like to hear if this is a viable method, or if anyone can advise me as to any major pitfalls I might encounter along the way.

Viable but why bother when VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) does this all for you. See splitting guide on the site.

kumi, your method should work, however I agree with blu that importing the whole reauthored title and blanking the cells (with VB, or PgcEdit+FixVTS if you prefer) is probably easier. You don't have to fix the jumps to chapters, since both DVDs will have the same number of chapters.
Also, Import VTS Titles is somewhat limited if the imported title has not the same number of cells than the original title.

You can add a LinkPTT in the pre-command of the main movie of disc 2 to jump directly to the first chapter on that disc, to avoid playing the blanked cells. You can also add a LinkTailPGC cell command in the last non-blanked cell of DVD1, for the same reason. And, of course, hiding the useless chapter menu buttons is recommended.
