Hi, I'm new in this class, be gentle with me... :-)

I have a number of AVI's that I want to join. It's typically 2 half AVI's in Divx / Xvid encoding, with various types of MP3 or AC3 audio.

I have Googled, and found a guide on using VirtualDub (load AVI, keep audio & video on direct stream copy, move cursor to end, File > Append AVI, then write AVI file). This often doesn't work, because the audio is 'variable bit rate' MP3, and VirtualDub complains that VBR isn't within the AVI standard.

So I need help... How can a newbie simply and without fuss join AVIs that contain VBR audio? Which software works best (preferably freeware)? I need it to be quick and simple, something involving many different programs won't work for me...

Thanks in advance! :-)
