I'm in the process of converting my DVD-collection to iPod-videos, and I'm useing Tagger to sort tagging and "cover-art".

Atm, I'm Alt+PrintScreen'ing from QuickTime to grab the frames I want to use as "covers", but I'm kinda looking for a program that can do a direct frame-dump of the currently displayed frame, directly to JPEG.

I used to have this feature in BSplayer1, but that's no longer available (replaced by junkware-infested BSplayer2).

Any help out there?

You can use Media Player Classic or VideoLAN.

The only way I recall that working was to turn Graphic Acceleration all the way off in display properties. Turning off overlays on Windows Media Player works as well.

But both VLC and MPC failed the test.. I need a program that can skip frame by frame backwards and forward to find the perfect frame to use..
VLC could only skip seconds, and MPC kould kinda do frame-skips (only problem was that sometimes it skips a bunch of frames)..

Virtualdub (with mpeg) will open the vobs and let you skip frame by frame.
