I've encoded an RGB source using WME9 set to RGB32 pixel mode.
MPC plays the file properly, WMP compresses the luma range.
Is there a way for a WMV to force it's playback to the full luma range?

Questions:
Which renderer are you using in MPC?
Are you using MS WMV decoder in MPC, or are you using new Ffdshow in MPC to decode WMV9?
Are you using High Quality mode in WMP's advanced performance option?
Sounds to me like WMP is displaying the full luma range, while MPC is expanding it. The difference is most likely in the renderers being used.

The source is full range. It's a PC screen recording. I'm looking for a way to have full luma range and easy navigation on systems which only have the default Windows 2000/XP files. WME using the its own screen codec plays back with reduced range in WMP.
My MPC is set for WMR7 Renderless so I can verify the range of the output files.
