i cannot get anything to work...Take the guesswork out of it, please - and state specifically which programs you tried and what the results were with each...

dvd decrypter..crashed the program after about 8 minutes..had to reboot..so i could not see any errors..

ripit4me seemed to do great..got past dvddecrypter section to "remove tiny cells" etc, and it crashed and wanted to send a bug report to microsoft..

i do not have anything left but Shrink to try, but i am thinking that it is gonna tank..

was hoping some of you pro's would have hashed thru this dvd already and have a suggestion for my dummy newb butt..

i am gonna try in the morning again witht he ripit4me and see if i can get it to do better on my work computer..it has a LOT more horsepower than my home PC...

The new version of DVDFab Decrypter is supposed to handle some new Sony stuff. Perhaps that's what it is, worth a try anyway.

@birdie_in_texas

I had no trouble whatsoever using the "RipIt4Me" package to make a full DVD backup of the Region 1 Widescreen version of "The DaVinci" code...

you may have a RAM problem. you may need more for this disc, or it may have started failing. free memory testers are available, one at MS.

have you ripped anything else since this happened?

I recently ripped it and made a x264 encode out of it without any issues whatsoever. IIRC, I was using the latest version, v1.5.5.0.

If you want to use DVDShrink, use AnyDVD or "DVD-Region+CSS free" at the same time otherwise your copy won't work.

You could also try NeroVision or Nero Recode but you'll need either one of the programs mentionned above too.

If these programs are making your computer crash then something is probably wrong with your machine. its not uncommon to get errors, but I have never had any of those programs crash.

It might be bad memory or it might be a virus/spyware loaded system. Try memtest86 (if I remember right) and I'd consider a fresh Windows install.
