View Full Version : How Get Primo Quality Double Layer Backup? No Compression.

How can one get the a very good quality backup to a double layer disk if no compression is required?

Does it matter much which program one uses if there is no compression?

I have DVD Rebuilder Pro with the included encoders and DVD Shrink and am pretty familiar with using those for backups to single layer disks.

I understand PgEdit does it to, but I've haven't figured out how to use that program yet.

By definition, if you make a 1:1 copy of a D/L DVD, the quality will be identical to that of the original...

Don't forget to use AnyDVD (or DVD-Region+CSSfree) while copying the DVD, or you will not be able to watch your copy afterwards.

Hi,
I don't have AnyDVD, but I found out in another forum that I can rip it with RipIt4Me and burn it with ImgBrn.

Does this create an identical copy also?

If you just want a dual layer (DVD9) backup you'd rip the disc using Clone mode with DVDFab or just rip the Main Movie (no menus or extras).

If you want the best quality to backup to a DVD5 (single layer) you could use Nero Recode. Tell it to rip the Main Movie, remove subtitles, and remove unwanted audio tracks. I did this once for the movie Serenity and the copy it made looked 90% like the original!

Will DVDFab in Clone mode remove the Arrcoss protection stuff from the newer movies?

I want to copy all the extras etc, thats why I'm using a Double Layer disk.

Yes.

Enough to make a working copy, but it may copy the copy protection. RipIt4Me removes it completely if you run all the steps in "1-click" mode.
