Hello everybody,

lately i receive an unknown error window. It comes only when the Windows Explorer reads an avi-file (e.g. when selecting the file).

http://www.holzhaeuer.info/pics_sonst/ffdshow_error_1.png

These are the filters Media Player Classic uses for playback

Default Direct Sound Device
Video Renderer
Audio Switcher
Overlay Mixer
ffdshow Audio Decoder
ffdshow MPEG4 Video Decoder
MPEG-1 Audio Decoder
Avi Splitter

I am using ffdshow_rev497_20061104_clsid.exe from ffdshow-tryouts but it happened with earlier versions, too. Not sure if it's even related to ffdshow.
The window does not come in any other program except explorer.exe. Both Spybot - Search and Destroy and Nod32 give me no alarms.

Has anyone else ever seen this kind of window and can tell me what it means?

Thanks in advance,

Radioactive Man

Just a guess: you have DivX installed? if yes, uninstall it and replace it with XviD...

There is a bug in Windows Explorer with avi preview. I thought it was fixed via WU. Can't remember precisely what register key should be disabled.

Anyway, regsvr32 -u shmedia.dll will disable avi preview. If your bug disappears, then you're on the right path (regsvr32 shmedia.dll restores avi preview).
